Jakarta, November 2, 2024 — The Indonesian Stem Cell Association (ASPI), in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), particularly the Health Research Organization and the Vaccine and Drug Research Center (PRVO), organized the BRIN–ASPI Collaborative Workshop titled “MSCs Workshop: Unveiling MSCs Potency of Wound Healing.” The event was held at the Advanced Cell-Therapy Production Laboratory, Prodia StemCell Indonesia, and was attended by 17 participants.
The workshop consisted of two Dry Workshop sessions. The first session featured the topic “EVs as Nanomedicine: Hope and Clinical Translation,” presented by Andi Wijaya, Ph.D. The second session delivered the topic “Discovering the Advancements of Stem Cell Basic Research: Development of Biomaterial-based Wound Healing Model Utilizing MSCs and Its Derivatives,” presented by Andri Pramesyanti Pramono, Ph.D.
The program also included a Wet Workshop session, beginning with a presentation titled “Discover MSC Potency of Wound Healing Using Scratch Assays: Procedure Explanation.” This was followed by the first hands-on session, “Cell Harvest & Seeding for Scratch Assay,” the second hands-on session, “Scratch Assay & Cell Imaging,” an MTT Assay demonstration titled “Key Techniques in Cell Viability,” and concluded with a discussion session.
The primary objective of this BRIN–ASPI Collaborative Workshop was to deepen participants’ understanding and application of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in the context of wound healing, as well as to provide practical insights into the implementation of stem cell technology through the various methods presented in both the Wet and Dry Workshop sessions. It is hoped that this activity will broaden participants’ perspectives in utilizing the potential of MSCs for research and clinical applications in the fields of nanomedicine and biomaterial-based wound healing models.
This workshop also served as a collaborative platform expected to foster new innovations in stem cell research and tissue regeneration in Indonesia. Participants’ enthusiasm was evident through active engagement during the discussion and hands-on sessions, reflecting strong interest in the latest research developments and the future clinical potential of MSCs.
This workshop was part of a series of events under the BRIN–ASPI Collaborative Seminar, which was previously held on October 17–18, 2024, at the BJ Habibie Building, BRIN Thamrin, Central Jakarta. Considering the significant objectives and expectations of both events, the collaboration between BRIN and ASPI is expected to continue annually in a sustainable manner.
